TOURISTIC MASTERPLAN ALONG THE RIVER NILE

As a result of President Sadat’s positive response to the Doultons' Egyptian Continuum concept  for anchoring the government plans for building a new city surrounding the Giza Plateau, the Doultons were commissioned to develop a series of  historically themed tourist destinations depicting  various epochs of Egypt’s long and varied history.

By government decree officials they were allowed to designate any government owned real estate as a project site.  A total of seven sites were selected from the Nile Delta in Alexandria to the uppermost cataract in Aswan.

In keeping with president Sadat’s wish to present Egypt’s  culture  as a living history, rather than as remnants from the past,  each site was to take a specific moment in time, recreating it as it would have been at its fulcrum, in all its glory rather than in the derelict form it had become.
